Location

Located in the beautiful lakes region of New Hampshire in the Mount Washington Valley, The Estates at Sherwood Forest are nestled near Lake Ossipee, the fifth largest lake in New Hampshire. Here in Freedom, NH we are at the edge of the state’s tremendous White Mountain National Forest, a mere seven miles from the Maine border, less than one hour from Portland and Old Orchard Beach, Maine and two hours from Boston. In our own backyard, we have chains of waterways extending a hundred miles in every direction, even to the Atlantic! There are many nearby mountains with hiking trails maintained by the Appalachian Mountain Club that allow for day hikes or overnights. In the heart of New Hampshire’s North Conway ski and recreation region, come home to Freedom!

    The Mountains (Conway, NH)
    The Kancamagus Highway is rated as one of the top 10 scenic highways in the United States. With hiking abound, check out Boulder Loop and then hike to the Lower Falls, nature’s rockslide. Hike around and take in nature’s splendor at White Lake, stopping off at Cathedral Ledge, and Diana’s Bath. Stop off at the Darby Field Inn for dinner with breathtaking mountain views and outdoor deck for cocktails and bird watching. Would you rather shop? Settler’s Green outlet mall is right in town and open until 9:00pm.
  • SOUTH – 1 hour 15 Minutes
    Portsmouth/Kittery
    Explore historic Portsmouth, New Hampshire; this happening seacoast town boasts attractions for all ages. Home and garden tours, park concerts, Isle of Shoal tours, wharf area, children’s’ museum, boat cruises, and top restaurants. Just next door along the coast is Kittery, Maine, famous for its outlets and Kittery Trading Post. Shop and dine in this lovely historic town!
  • EAST – 1 hour 30 Minutes
    Seacoast of Maine (Marginal Way, Ogunquit, ME)
    Ogunquit is a beautiful resort town with a scenic cliff walk to Perkins Cove artist colony. With miles of shoreline open to the public, there are leisure and recreation activities for everyone on these white sand beaches. Local restaurants boast the freshest catches from steamers to lobster and chowder. Specialty shops, boutiques and both indoor and outdoor dining are all a stone’s throw away in town.
  • WEST – 50 Minutes
    Meredith/Moultonborough, NH
    Take a tour of the “Castle in the Clouds” mountaintop estate, Lucknow, high in the Ossipee Mountain Range.
